Learn to design with vintage movable type & take home a set of 20 handmade drink coasters.Come with a short phrase in mind & peruse our collection of typefaces for inspiration. Students will learn letterpress basics like composing with movable type, locking up designs in a chase, and mixing ink by hand. Each person will print their own design on one of our tabletop platen presses

Elizabeth Isakson-Dado is an artist, educator, and curator. She holds a BFA in Printmaking from Wayne State University, and an MFA in Book & Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Liz has exhibited widely in the US and has work in institutional collections including the Poetry Foundation, the Center for Book and Paper Art, and Art in Print Magazine. For the past 10 years, she has taught university classes and community workshops in letterpress printing. Liz also sells her own prints through her Instagram, @theaquariushouse, to raise money for social justice campaigns. She lives and works in Berkley, Michigan.
